The house
Built in 1891 for a cigar maker, a boarding house by the 1950s, and a hotel since 2015 after four years of careful restoration. We kept the staircase, the plaster ceilings and the creak on the third step.
Bar Wren
Twelve seats in the old front parlour. local wine, a short cocktail list, open until midnight.
Breakfast
In the glass conservatory: eggs any way, sourdough from the bakery on the corner, proper coffee.
The courtyard
A walled garden with a fire table, open late spring to the first frost.
Library
A quiet room with a long table, good Wi-Fi and the house’s collection of local history.

Before you book
Is it really cheaper to book here than on a booking site?
Yes. Booking sites charge us a commission, so we give that back to you as included breakfast and our lowest rate. If you find the same room cheaper, we’ll match it.
Is the house noisy? It’s an old building.
We added acoustic insulation between every floor during the restoration and the windows are double-glazed. The bar closes at midnight and sits at the front, away from the rooms.
Is there an elevator?
There’s a small lift to the second floor, and the Garden Rooms are step-free. The Attic Suite is up one flight of stairs from the lift.
Can I bring my dog?
Two Garden Rooms are dog-friendly, with a $30 flat cleaning fee per stay. Bowls and treats are on us.
What if my plans change?
Change or cancel up to 48 hours before arrival at no charge, by email or phone. Inside 48 hours we charge the first night only.
